This small strongbox “safe” was manufactured by Bauche in Gueux, France and dates to around 1865. Auguste-Nicolas Bauche was an expert in fire-resistant materials and this safe still has its fire resistant interior. The lock box is made of steel and weighs approximately 28 pounds.
Here is an antique 16oz Fairbanks candy scale with a solid brass removable pan/scoop pan and a cast iron fishtail base. The calibrated beam and sliding weight are also made out of brass.
